How to Sort Text Lines Online

The Sort Text Lines tool allows you to quickly reorder lists, names, data rows, or code lines. Simply paste your text into the left input box, choose your preferred sorting method, and your results will be generated automatically.

Available Sorting Methods:

  • Alphabetical (A → Z & Z → A): Standard lexicographical alphabetical sort. Supports international character collation.
  • Natural / Numerical: Handles numbers intelligently. In natural sort, 2 comes before 10, preventing the common computer sorting issue where "10" precedes "2".
  • Line Length: Organizes lines based on character length from shortest to longest (or longest to shortest). Excellent for poets, typography styling, or finding longest strings.
  • Reverse Order: Inverts the existing order of your lines.
  • Shuffle / Randomize: Re-orders lines randomly using the unbiased Fisher-Yates algorithm.

Helpful Options:

  • Case Insensitive: Prevents uppercase letters ('Z') from sorting before lowercase letters ('a').
  • Trim Whitespace: Cleans up leading and trailing spaces before sorting.
  • Remove Duplicate Lines: Cleans up repeated rows simultaneously while sorting.
