Official WhatsApp Sticker Specifications

WhatsApp has strict technical requirements for custom stickers. Our converter handles all of these automatically:

  • File format: Animated WebP (.webp) with transparency (alpha channel).
  • Exact dimensions: Exactly 512 × 512 pixels. Non-square dimensions or sizes other than 512×512 are rejected by WhatsApp.
  • File size limit: Maximum 500 KB for animated stickers, and 100 KB for static stickers. Our auto-optimize option ensures your sticker stays below this threshold.
  • 16px transparent margin: WhatsApp recommends a 16-pixel transparent margin between the sticker content and the 512×512 canvas edge (effective content size 480×480).
  • Maximum duration: Animated stickers can be up to 10 seconds long (short loops between 2 and 6 seconds are recommended).
  • Frame rate: Minimum 8ms per frame (typically 8–30 FPS, with 12 FPS offering the optimal balance of smoothness and file size).
  • Animation loop: Loops continuously (infinite loop).
